On 17 March 2014, the City of Copenhagen 2014 decided that it would contribute to the development of innovative waste treatment methods by using the REnescience technology. The municipality will work toward establishing a full-scale REnescience plant with a processing capacity of 30-40,000 tonnes of waste a year.

Henrik Maimann, Vice President in DONG Energy, said: "We're pleased with the positive signals, and we must now make detailed analyses in close collaboration with the Copenhagen Department for Technology and Environment which has worked with us on the plans for the last year."

Together with among others DONG Energy, the City of Copenhagen will design the plant, and it is expected that a decision can be made during 2015 in line with the recommendation made by the Copenhagen Department of Technology and Environment.
